Why I Haven't Updated

I was going to draw a little comic about why I haven't updated in a couple of weeks but it turns out I don't even have time for that! I've been working full time, working overtime every day, going to class until 10:30-11 pm two nights a week, attempting to do homework/study, sustaining a long distance relationship, and all of my free time is spent cooking and cleaning. I don't even have enough time to do anything that warrants making a comic anyway! Haha.

Once overtime ends and I'm done with a large personal project I'm working on, I'll probably have more time to make comics. That'll be a week or two from now, I suspect.

I haven't done the long distance relationship thing in a long time, but those familiar feelings are rushing back.

Stupid Designer Jokes: Vector Smart Object

Aug 16 - Vector Smart Object

My coworker Lynn and I always seem to come up with the dumbest, most random and obscure jokes relating to what we do at work. Most of them would probably make no sense to 95% of the world. This one is a bit more relatable and still stupidly funny.

Watching Adam

Aug 7 - Adam

In case this doesn't make sense, on Sunday night Kevin and I watched Adam, a movie about a guy with Asperger's Syndrome who falls in love with a "normal" girl. Kevin has Asperger's. I'm somewhat "normal." (Yeah, I'll keep telling myself that...) We thought it would be a good bonding experience since maybe we could relate to the characters and hopefully learn something. Ultimately, I ended up feeling extremely grateful that Kevin is exactly the way he is and possesses all the positive traits associated with AS: a high level of intelligence, varied and deep interests, complete honesty, etc.

I could go into my insanely long opinionated rant about why mental conditions like this are a gift as opposed to a liability and how people with these conditions simply have certain aspects of their personalities at different ends of a spectrum than others, but I'll have to save that discussion for some other time.

My Birthday

Please excuse the bad art. I haven't drawn anything in a while.

New Journal Comic

I just now discovered journal comics, which are exactly what they sound like: comic strips that take the place of a hand-written journal or personal online blog. Often times, they seem to describe one specific event that happened during the day and they are sometimes dramatized for entertainment purposes.

Considering I've been trying to get back into the habit of drawing, I love making comic strips, and I am obsessed with writing in journals, I thought I'd give it a shot. We'll see how frequently I can update, how offended people get by the amount of personal information I reveal, and who I should allow to see this blog in the first place.

Might change the name. I named it as such since the first comic is about my birthday and I'm a Leo.

Enjoy!
